Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural part of being human, but when it becomes persistent or overwhelming, it can begin to affect almost every area of life.

It may interfere with sleep, relationships, work, confidence and everyday activities. You might find yourself worrying excessively, anticipating things going wrong, avoiding situations or feeling constantly on edge.

Over time, anxiety can make your world feel smaller, limiting what you do and how freely you live.

It doesn't have to remain that way.

How I can help

I offer psychotherapy and clinical hypnosis for adults experiencing anxiety, drawing on more than 25 years of therapeutic experience and my earlier background in medicine.

My approach is individual and collaborative. Rather than following a standard treatment programme, I work with you to understand your particular experience of anxiety, what may be maintaining it and what you would like to change.

Depending on your circumstances, our work may involve:

- Reducing excessive worry and anxious anticipation

- Working with physical symptoms of anxiety

- Addressing fear, avoidance and unhelpful patterns of response

- Developing greater confidence in situations that have become difficult

- Improving sleep and reducing tension

- Building a greater sense of calm, choice and personal control

Clinical hypnosis may form part of our work, alongside psychotherapy and other appropriate therapeutic approaches. The methods we use will depend on your individual needs and goals.

Regaining confidence and freedom

Anxiety can leave you feeling as though your reactions are making decisions for you.

You may know perfectly well what you would like to do, yet find yourself held back by worry, fear or the anticipation of discomfort.

An important part of my approach is helping you regain confidence in your own ability to respond differently.

The aim is not to eliminate every anxious feeling. It is to reduce anxiety's influence over your life, develop greater confidence in yourself and help you move towards the things that matter to you.

Together, we can work towards meaningful, positive change — with greater freedom, confidence and quality of life.

Appointments

I work with adults throughout the UK via online appointments.

Our initial appointment includes an assessment of your difficulties and the beginning of therapeutic work. Appointments usually last approximately one hour, although the first may take a little longer.

Before we meet, you will be asked to complete a confidential health questionnaire to help me prepare for our work together.

Further appointments are arranged individually, according to your needs and progress.
